While using the Word app through the Apple App Store on my iPhone, I believed I was signing up for a free package. I intended to activate the one-month free trial, but without realizing it, the subscription was converted into an annual plan, and it now appears that an annual subscription of approximately $137 was initiated. I did not notice at the time that it had switched to a paid yearly plan.
Because there were insufficient funds in my account, the payment could not be processed. However, due to the failed payment, I am now unable to access other apps with my Apple ID, download new apps, or use the existing balance in my account. My Apple account is essentially locked because of this unsuccessful charge.
The Apple ID associated with my account uses an @icloud.com email address. I tried to cancel the subscription through Settings under the Subscriptions section of my Apple ID, but since my payment methods were declined, I was unable to complete the cancellation, and the issue persists.
I am requesting that this Word subscription—mistakenly started as an annual plan instead of a free trial—be canceled immediately, that no charges be collected from my account, and that all restrictions on my Apple account be removed so I can download apps and use my balance normally.
I had only taken a free/monthly trial membership for the Word app on my Apple device. Because I intended to use it only for a short period, I do not believe I gave any consent for an annual subscription or a high‑value payment. Nevertheless, without my knowledge or permission, this subscription was converted into an annual one and around January a single charge of ₺4,100 was taken from my bank card. During this time I also experienced problems with my account; I struggled to log into my Apple account for a while, which prevented me from using both my account and the Word app. I don’t actively use the Word app at all, yet I cannot accept that such a large amount was withdrawn without my approval. Later, when I tried to submit a refund request through Apple, this Word subscription did not appear at all among the refundable products in the system. I was able to open refund requests for some of my other products, but because there was no option for the specific transaction that is causing the problem, I could not start the refund process. I request that both Apple and Word/Microsoft examine the records related to this transaction, refund the ₺4,100 that was taken for the subscription that was turned into an annual plan without my knowledge or consent, and completely cancel the associated Word membership.
