If the waterproof coating on your Columbia jacket wears off, you have two options: restore the water repellency yourself or seek a replacement through Columbia's warranty service.
Restoring Water Repellency: The Durable Water Repellent (DWR) finish on jackets can wear off over time. First wash it with a gentle detergent. Avoid bleach and fabric softeners, since these can harm the waterproofing ingredients.
After washing, add a DWR treatment, which is available in spray-on or wash-in form, according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Warranty Replacement: Columbia provides a one-year limited warranty on materials and workmanship.
If the waterproofing on your jacket failed early, you may be able to file a warranty claim. Make sure the jacket is clean, and have your proof of purchase ready.
Fill out the warranty claim form on Columbia's website. Following submission, you will receive instructions for submitting your jacket to Columbia for evaluation.
If it is judged defective, they will repair it or provide a virtual product credit. For assistance, call Columbia's Warranty Support at 1-800-622-6953.
If the issue persists, consider filing a complaint on Xolvie to make a difference.
