I transfered via Wise a few days ago, but the recipient hasn't received it yet. What causes a delay?

Wise typically guarantees fast transfer speeds, but there are still several reasons why delays might happen:

One frequent offender is insufficient verification on your Wise account, which may cause Wise to temporarily withhold funds until you send in the required paperwork, such as identification or proof of address. They may also retain money for security purposes, particularly when it comes to big transfers or suspicious activity that has been reported.

Weekend transfers can also be delayed because, even though Wise handles them fast, the banks involved might not be open on the weekends. Processing may be delayed if the transfer takes place on a weekend when the bank is closed.

The recipient may also experience delays as a result of bank currency exchange policies, internal processing timelines, or holidays. Lastly, the mode of payment you select can affect how quickly the funds transfer; if you use a debit card, Wise will need to wait for your bank to clear the funds, which could cause delays.
