Hotels.com Unresolved Reservation Cancellation

I made a 2-night reservation at The Hera Suits Hotel through Hotels.com. Later on, I had to cancel because my friend had also made a reservation at the same hotel through a different platform. During the cancellation process, it stated on the screen that I would receive a full refund, but I didn't get it. So, I contacted Hotels.com through their online chat. The representative told me that I had the right to a refund and asked me to reach out again if I didn't receive payment or any related email within a few days. Accordingly, I called them a few days later. The representative on the phone said that I had missed the deadline for the refund by 8 minutes, but I had seen the statement on my screen promising a refund. The representative said they would contact the hotel again. The hotel owner informed them that the cancellation didn't go through, and since they had received full payment, they would continue to hold the room for us, thus refusing to provide a refund. Neither Hotels.com nor The Hera Suits Hotel offered any assistance regarding the issue. I can't understand how a company like Hotels.com fails to resolve our grievances. This experience is completely unprofessional, and I expect it to be resolved in some way.
