Turkish Airlines' Disgraceful Treatment of Animals

I had the most horrendous experience on June 24, 2023, when traveling with Turkish Airlines (THY) from Diyarbakır to İzmir, with a layover in Istanbul, accompanied by my family (my spouse and our 7-year-old, 7 kg Miniature Pinscher). Right from the start, the THY check-in staff in Diyarbakır began causing trouble. Despite having our pet carrier, they insisted we buy a new transparent one and forced us to pay a whopping 800 TL. Their behavior was demeaning and condescending, displaying animosity towards animals. After a difficult check-in, we encountered another problem while boarding TK 2607 flight, as a male cabin crew member harassed us. We were delayed for 20 minutes and faced his arrogant and disrespectful attitude. When we stood up for ourselves, he threatened not to let us board the plane. Eventually, we managed to get on board, only to face continuous warnings and demands from the crew regarding our dog's placement. The 5-hour journey was filled with stress and tension, affecting our pet's well-being for days. I am filing a complaint against THY and its employees. As a prestigious national airline, THY should prioritize respect for all living beings. Our experience with THY was a complete disaster and disappointment. On the other hand, I express my heartfelt gratitude to the s*** airline and its staff for their kindness and humane treatment during our return journey.
