Amazon Failed To Clearly Disclose Pigskin Material In Merrell Moab 3 Boots

In July 2024, I purchased a pair of Merrell Moab 3 Mid GTX hiking boots through Amazon. At the time of purchase, the product page listed the leather/material information only as “Other.” Based on this description, I believed that the product did not contain pigskin and completed the purchase accordingly.

However, after some time, I revisited the same product page and noticed that the description had been updated to explicitly state that the boots were “made with pigskin leather.” For me, pigskin is absolutely unacceptable as a material, and if this information had been clearly disclosed at the time of purchase, I would never have bought the product.

Because the material information was not openly and clearly stated when I placed the order, I feel misled and unfairly treated as a consumer. The moment I discovered this information, I completely stopped using the boots. The product was only used a few times for walking and remains in very lightly used condition.

When I contacted Amazon customer service regarding this issue, I was informed that they could only take action depending on the outcome of a Consumer Arbitration Committee decision and that they could not otherwise assist me. However, the Consumer Arbitration Committee process is long, exhausting, and unnecessarily burdensome for a situation that was caused by incomplete or misleading product information.

Since the pigskin material information was not clearly disclosed on the date I purchased the boots, I request that Amazon accept the return of the product and provide me with a full refund, even though some time has passed since the purchase. My order number is 404-1632771-8533966.
