On June 18, 2023, I bought a watch from the "grancabrio Store" on AliExpress. Including taxes, I paid 1889 TL for the item. At the time, it was the same as $80 USD. But the product was broken when it got there. It's a watch with moving parts that doesn't work at all. The mechanism inside looks like it's just for show, since it doesn't move at all. I told the seller about the problem, and he said I could get back 1523 TL if I sent the item back. At the moment, 1523 TL is worth 58 dollars, so I would lose 22 dollars if I sent it back, not to mention the shipping costs I would have to pay. So, I turned down this offer. Instead, the seller offered a partial refund of 505 TL, which is about 19 dollars, without having to return the broken item. This would still mean that I would lose $60. I went to Aliexpress because I wasn't happy with the solution. But even Aliexpress agreed with the seller's final offer to refund 505 TL. Why should I pay for it if the seller sent me something that doesn't work? It looks like buying things on Aliexpress is a lot like gambling. The Turkish lira has lost value, so if I bought the same item from the same seller now, it would cost me 2690 TL, and they are only willing to give me back 505 TL. In this situation, I would lose almost 2100 TL. This kind of bad behavior toward customers is not okay. The next time I have a problem, I will go to the authorities because these kinds of business practices are against consumer rights.
