Mercedes Refused to Cover My Steering Repair Under Warranty
On December 29, 2025, I purchased a 2021 Mercedes-Benz C200d as a certified pre-owned vehicle with a Mercedes warranty from Gelecek Mercedes in Istanbul. I am now experiencing a problem with the vehicle's power-adjustable steering column. The steering wheel moves forward and backward normally, but it no longer moves up and down. When I brought the vehicle to Mengerler Mercedes-Benz Adana for this issue, I was told that the repair was not covered under warranty, even though their records indicate that the vehicle includes a two-year warranty covering the engine, mechanical, electrical, and electronic components.
I first reported the issue during a service visit in February. At that time, I was told the steering column had been lubricated and was working properly, but the problem returned shortly afterward. I took the vehicle back again in May, where my case was handled under work order No. 111992 with Mr. U*. During this period, I also consulted other authorized Mercedes service centers, and they clearly stated that this type of steering column failure should be covered under the vehicle's warranty.
In addition, I contacted Mercedes-Benz Customer Service four or five times. Each time, I was told that my complaint had been recorded, but I never received any follow-up or resolution. Both the dealership's website and the sales representatives stated that the vehicle came with a two-year warranty covering the engine, mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems, so I do not accept the decision to exclude my steering column failure from warranty coverage.
I request that Mercedes-Benz honor the warranty provided with my vehicle, repair the steering column at no cost to me, and provide a clear written explanation of why this repair was initially denied under the warranty terms.
