Turkish Airlines Unacceptable Treatment of Animals During Flight
I am beyond disgusted and angry. My two dogs travelled from Nairobi to Thessaloniki with an 8-hour layover in Istanbul. Each dog cost more than their human companion traveling comfortably in the passenger cabin. Turkish Airlines spends a lot of marketing on their so-called animal hub in Istanbul, where they are supposed to look after traveling animals. Fact is, their flight boxes were closed with zip ties in Nairobi and they arrived with the boxes zip-tied in Thessaloniki. They had been inside their boxes the entire time. They were sitting in their own filth: vomit, feces, urine. They were completely traumatized and it took three days for their diarrhea to abate. In effect, they were treated like suitcases. Inanimate objects. I will also lodge a report with PETA. This is unacceptable. When they reached Thessaloniki, the two large dog boxes (40kg+ each) were simply dumped in the arrivals hall. Their flight companion (75 years old) was left to try and get them out on his own. No help, no assistance. We paid €700 per dog for that. I expect a response from Turkish Airlines.
