Turkish Airlines Flight Confusion During My Holiday Trip

April 5, 2024 11:36 PM13

I decided to visit my hometown on the eve of the holiday and booked my Izmir - Ankara connecting flight to Agri. There were 30 minutes between the two flights, and I thought I could make it by running. Three weeks passed, and days before the flight, I received a message. My second flight was moved 40 minutes earlier, leaving no time between the two flights. I called customer service and asked: 'How many minutes before does boarding close?' 'The gate closes 20 minutes before the flight.' 'So, I won't be able to make it, right?' 'Yes, sir, but you can cancel your ticket without any penalty if you wish.' 'Why would I cancel? I want to be with my family during the holiday. It's my only day off.' 'Unfortunately, sir, all seats on other dates are fully booked.' 'So, are you expecting me to jump out of the plane window right after landing, rush inside the airport, find the gate, and make it to the flight within five minutes?' 'Unfortunately, sir.' 'I see, in summary, you are telling me to cancel my flight,' I said and hung up. THY is basically asking me to spend my holiday at the airport or cancel my ticket. But why is there a last-minute change when there are no empty seats? Can't we even trust THY? Is this our pride? Does Turkish Airlines really have the right to ruin a passenger's holiday at their discretion?
