Turkish Airlines Does Not Provide Flight Compensation
On my Turkish Airlines flight from Dalaman to Sivas with a layover in Istanbul, I missed my flight to Sivas because my plane landed late in Istanbul. We were supposed to attend our sibling's wedding, and since there were no other flights to Sivas on the same day, we changed our tickets to a flight to Kayseri, a city close to Sivas. We rented a car in Kayseri and incurred rental expenses, and we also spent money on fuel to reach Sivas on our own. In addition to the financial loss, we arrived in Sivas at 2:00 AM on our own, instead of the planned 7:00 PM, and our entire day and night were ruined by spending them on the road. On top of all this, Turkish Airlines responded to our request for flight compensation with the statement, “The disruption occurred beyond our control, so we cannot provide flight compensation.” Our trust in Turkish Airlines, which we consider one of the world's leading airlines, has been shaken. We had even received flight compensation from another airline company, which I prefer not to name, referred to as “cheap” or “flying minibus,” in a similar situation.
