Turkish Airlines Baggage Overweight Fee Issue on WHTKZY Flight
On December 12, 2023, at 11:00 AM, we arrived at Istanbul Airport for our flight with PNR number WHTKZY. Our check-in was completed, and we only needed to drop off our luggage. We went to the baggage drop-off system with our mobile boarding passes (which we did ourselves) and paid ₺465 due to overweight luggage. We are three people with two bags. Normally, the weights should have been combined, but they were not. The staff there were unaware of the situation. There was no one to guide us correctly with our questions. I called customer service, and THY was unaware of this service. The issue is not the ₺465, but if a service is provided, it should be done properly. Just like on our previous flight where the counter staff did not prioritize families with children, this issue stems from THY's failure to properly communicate its policies to its staff. We now fly with Pegasus; at least we get our money's worth.
