I Experienced Inconvenience Due To Flight Delay and Damaged Luggage
On 24.10.2023, I traveled with THY from Gaziantep to Edremit via Istanbul. There was a 50-minute layover. We departed from Gaziantep 30 minutes late, so I naturally missed my connecting flight to Edremit. Additionally, I learned that the flight departed 5 minutes early. As a result, I was left stranded without my luggage and had to return home the next day at my own expense. The inconvenience I experienced up to this point was already significant. After reaching home, I filed all necessary reports to have my luggage sent to me. On October 28, my luggage arrived, but it was damaged and had a broken wheel. I was informed by Edremit Airport that the wheel was broken. The luggage arrived damaged, and some of my belongings inside were broken and stained my clothes. I even had to throw away my sweater. The broken perfume and stained blush were additional losses for me. I took photos of the luggage, but since it was unusable, I had to discard it. I filed another report with THY, expecting them to cover my losses, and uploaded the requested documents and photos. The response I received today was disappointing. They said I needed to keep the purchase receipt for the luggage. I don't know why I would keep a receipt for a suitcase I bought 4 years ago. Apparently, I am legally required to keep receipts for 5 years. I don't know if I was supposed to hire an accountant to record every receipt I get. I am an ordinary citizen. In short, I faced significant issues both during the journey and afterward. I know my losses won't be compensated, but I wanted to share this so everyone can see and know. I have never experienced this with any other airline. Many of my friends have faced the same issue but didn't want to deal with it. So, in the end, THY always benefits. Shame on you, THY.
Thank you...
