On October 1, 2023, during my flight from Adana to Berlin with Turkish Airlines, my large suitcase was damaged. Two of its wheels came off, and now it neither stands upright nor can it be wheeled. I immediately filed a report the same day and requested a replacement suitcase. However, they told me at the airport that they did not have a suitcase to offer and that I should later claim the cost of the suitcase. As a customer, I did everything I could. I emailed FGS ground services and also filled out Turkish Airlines' online baggage mishandling form. It’s been almost a year, but I still haven’t received a suitcase or any payment. They requested the receipt for my suitcase, but when I told them I didn't have it, they initially said it wasn't a problem and that I could submit a price estimate for a similar suitcase. I did that, but they didn’t accept it, saying they needed the original receipt. I bought the suitcase over two years ago and paid for it in cash. Now they are asking me to go back to the store and demand that they find the receipt for a suitcase I bought two years ago in cash, citing the consumer law that requires keeping receipts for five years. Beyond the absurdity of this request, the amount I paid for the suitcase back then wouldn’t even cover the cost of a new set of wheels for it now. I came to Germany on a one-year project, and I need to return within a month, but I don’t have a usable suitcase. I’ve been calling customer service almost every week, but they just apologize and hang up. I even offered to take any suitcase they had, but they refused. I’m on the verge of losing my mind; they haven’t resolved this suitcase issue for a year, and I’m the one who’s been suffering because of it. My project ends on September 30, and I need to return, but I have no suitcase, and they broke mine and haven’t compensated me. As a student, I’ve already struggled to afford a ticket costing over 400 euros, and now they’re not covering their mistake. Additionally, I had to hire a taxi that day because I couldn’t drag the suitcase, and I paid that cost out of pocket. All I’m asking for is either a replacement suitcase or the amount to buy an equivalent one. I’ve suffered all kinds of losses, and I haven’t received any response from Turkey’s largest airline for such a simple issue for a year. I am truly expecting a solution at this point.
