Turkish Airlines Damaged My Baggage But Didn’t Compensate It
On October 20, 2023, during my Ankara-Izmir journey with THY, both of my suitcases were damaged at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport. We filed a report (report number ADBTK_40581). We were instructed to take the damaged suitcases to a repair shop. We took them to M**** Bag and Suitcase Repair Workshop. They provided us with a document stating that the suitcases could not be repaired. The monetary value for the damaged suitcases was assessed at ₺2000-₺2500 for one and ₺1500-₺2000 for the other, and we were given a document to that effect. We sent this document to THY. THY responded by saying they would compensate us with ₺2100 for the damage. We didn't object. They said, 'We have sent your documents to the payment and compensation department' (report number 2023_254553). They promised the payment would be made within ten business days. However, the payment has not been made. As of today, January 5, 2024, when I call THY, they keep stalling us. I am determined to follow up on this matter and will not give up. For your information, if you experience baggage damage with THY, do not give up; they make the process difficult.
