On 06/07/2024, my flight PC 2794 from Sabiha Gökçen to Samsun Çarşamba Airport, scheduled for 20:50, was severely disrupted due to adverse weather conditions. The flight was diverted to Trabzon, then returned to Sabiha Gökçen, and finally transferred passengers to another plane, which eventually arrived in Samsun around 12:30 on 07/07/2024.
This 16-17 hour ordeal involved numerous violations of passenger rights and neglect of basic human needs. Most of the delays occurred while we were confined inside the aircraft, with little to no provisions for food, drink, or rest. Despite the cold weather during transfers and while waiting on the tarmac, no precautions were taken to ensure passenger comfort.
The subsequent re-routing plans appeared to prioritize cost-cutting over alleviating passenger suffering. Prolonged confinement in the aircraft led to distress among children, panic attacks among mothers, escalating passenger anger, and helpless attempts by flight attendants to manage the situation.
After landing in Trabzon at 01:00 due to the weather in Samsun, we were moved to a small, overcrowded transfer hall with inadequate seating, forcing us to sit on the floor. We were given just one drink during the entire delay, leaving us hungry, thirsty, exhausted, and sleep-deprived.
Eventually, we boarded another plane only to endure more waiting, resulting in heated disputes between passengers and crew. The situation deteriorated to the point that police were called as a precaution. Passengers were then given the choice of either traveling by bus or returning to Sabiha Gökçen for a connecting flight to Samsun, a decision communicated informally by word of mouth rather than an official announcement.
I opted to return to Sabiha Gökçen with a group of 32 passengers. This harrowing experience triggered memories of the trauma I endured during the February 6th earthquake, including feelings of cold, uncertainty, and helplessness.
I request a thorough investigation into this matter and compensation for both the material and emotional distress caused.
