Amazon HBO Max Subscription Charged for Years but Never Worked
For several years I have been paying Amazon every month for access to HBO Max as a digital service, at about 20 dollars per month. Since I moved to my current home around three years ago, I have not been able to use this service even once. Every time I tried to access HBO Max through Amazon, the app or service would tell me that I did not have an account and that I needed to start a new one. In other words, although I was billed by Amazon, the HBO Max side did not recognize that I had an active subscription. Over these months I have spent hours trying to get help from Amazon customer service while continuing to be charged. Despite this, the issue was never resolved. On the most recent date I contacted support again and spent about an hour on the phone, speaking to two different representatives. Only at the end of this call was I told that I should contact HBO because the problem might be on their side, even though my payments and my subscription were always through Amazon, not directly to HBO. I find it completely unacceptable that Amazon has taken my payments for a service that I could not use at all for approximately three years, which I estimate to be around 300 dollars in total, and then told me to go to HBO and even to my bank for help. Today I finally canceled the service because nothing was working, and I have just received an email saying a refund of 20.02 dollars is being processed. This is far from sufficient given the length of time the service has been unusable. I request that Amazon review my account and refund at least several months of the HBO Max subscription charges that were taken while the service was not working and my account was not recognized. I also expect Amazon to take responsibility for a service they billed me for and provide a clear explanation of how this situation will be corrected so that other customers are not left paying for a service they cannot use.
