My USPA Father's Day Gift Exchange Denied
For Father's Day, my son bought me a pair of pants and a t-shirt from a USPA store. When the pants turned out to be too big, we went to the Hilltown store with the exchange card to swap them. The sales associate told us they didn't have this product in their store but offered to check other store inventories to help us.
However, another employee about 15 feet away rudely called out, "The product you're holding is second quality. There's no exchange or return for such items. Whoever gifted this to you probably knows that. They must have been told when purchasing." This tactless comment not only disparaged their own product but also embarrassed my son in front of me. It left a bad taste in the mouths of other customers in the store too.
I don't know if USPA actually sells second-quality products, but everyone saw the poor quality of their staff. I have an unused, tagged product with an exchange card, and I'll certainly be filing a complaint with the Consumer Rights Board. Before that, I wanted to post here in case there's a competent authority who could solve our problem. It feels like we're in a banana republic where everyone makes up their own rules.
