Turkish Airlines Flight Change from Gaziantep to Adana Due to Low Passenger Count
On February 5, 2024, I learned at 3:30 AM that my TK7127 flight from Gaziantep to Ankara scheduled for 5:45 AM was changed to depart from Adana instead, citing low passenger count and slight fog as reasons. I was traveling with my 1-year-old baby and luggage, and my journey included a transfer in Ankara for a flight to Van. Passengers were transferred to Adana by vehicle, but the vehicle left around 5:30 AM, and there was no guarantee I would make it to the 8:05 AM flight from Ankara. Additionally, all flights to Van with transfers in Istanbul and Ankara were fully booked for the day, and the earliest available flight was on February 7, 2024. This change caused me to lose 5 days of my annual leave, which is very important to me due to my work commitments and the need to care for my baby. It also caused financial and emotional distress, as I faced potential problems with my employer and incurred additional costs. I find it unreasonable for THY, a technologically advanced airline, to use fog as an excuse and make such a change only 2 hours before the flight. I believe that weather conditions should be known at least 12 hours in advance. Despite paying a premium for a guaranteed service, this last-minute change has caused significant inconvenience. I request compensation for my financial and emotional losses. Additionally, I want to highlight the numerous complaints about the lack of flights or high prices to Van, which further exacerbates the issue. The fog had cleared about 45 minutes before the flight, proving that this was not a force majeure situation. I urge a thorough investigation and compensation for my losses.
