I Experienced Inconvenience Due To Flight Cancellation by Turkish Airlines
On November 5, 2023, I purchased a low-mileage class ticket from THY for a connecting flight from Ankara to Istanbul to Porto on June 17, 2024, for my son, my spouse, and myself. However, on December 11, 2023, THY notified me that the Ankara-Istanbul flight scheduled to depart at 07:50 on June 17, 2024, has been canceled. Despite numerous flights from Ankara to Istanbul on that date and the availability of mileage tickets, I was offered a flight departing Ankara at 14:05, which arrives in Istanbul exactly at the departure time of the Porto flight. It is clear that it is physically impossible for me to make this connection. I request that the change be reversed and that I be given the flight departing Ankara at 07:55, which connects to the Porto flight, instead of the canceled 07:50 flight. I have communicated this same request to the company but have not received a positive response. If I had made this cancellation, I would have had to pay a penalty; however, when the airline makes changes six months in advance for their own needs, do I still have to pay a penalty by purchasing a ticket with higher mileage? I feel that my family and I are being unfairly treated. I request that this situation be rectified.
