On August 25, 2023, I purchased tickets for Istanbul-Zurich (January 20, 2024) and Zurich-Istanbul (January 27, 2024). While buying the tickets, I made sure to include the appropriate baggage allowance to avoid extra charges for transporting my ski equipment. However, Turkish Airlines informed me that the rules changed after the New Year, and I had to pay an additional €60 each way (totaling €120). I was forced to make these payments.
Since Turkish Airlines is a company that cannot cancel the service promised after payment, I should have been refunded this total amount.
I reported this issue to Turkish Airlines via their feedback link: https://www.turkishairlines.com/en-int/any-questions/customer-relations/feedback/ and received the following response:
'Firstly, we are sorry for the inconvenience you experienced. As Turkish Airlines, we sometimes make changes to our practices to best meet our passengers' expectations. In this context, we would like to inform you that some sports equipment is now transported for a fee due to special transport conditions. For detailed information, please visit our sports equipment page. We hope to introduce you to new places and different cultures in your future travels. Best regards, Nezlisan I., Customer Representative'
As you can see, my issue was not addressed, and no explanation was provided. Turkish Airlines does this very often. I had to correspond with them for months in a similar situation before.
