On August 12, 2023, I flew from Istanbul to Gatwick (London) on flight TK1863. Due to overbooking, my seat number was not assigned until the boarding gate closed, and I had to wait in the lounge. I was the last passenger to board the plane after the boarding gate closed.
After passing through passport control at Gatwick, I waited for approximately 2.5 hours to retrieve my luggage. When I approached the airport's lost luggage department, I learned that my luggage had never left Istanbul. It seems my luggage was held back until the last minute, and due to a no-show passenger, my luggage was forgotten even though I boarded the plane. Since I received no feedback about this issue, I left the airport without my luggage 3 hours after passing through passport control. The absence of my regularly needed medications in my luggage disrupted my treatment, and I faced significant inconvenience due to the unavailability of my other belongings. Two days later, the airport's lost luggage department contacted me to inform me that my luggage had arrived at the airport and would be delivered to me the next day, which was three days after my flight.
I requested Turkish Airlines customer service to compensate for the inconvenience caused by overbooking and the resulting issues. However, I received a response stating that since I participated in the flight and my luggage was eventually delivered without being lost, they would not take any further action.
I am filing this complaint because Turkish Airlines did not address my inconvenience.
