In April, I purchased a ticket for the 08:50 Kayseri flight today, as THY had a promotion. Yesterday, I tried to check in but couldn't select a seat and was unable to complete the check-in. This morning, when I arrived at the airport, I tried to check in again but failed, so we went to the counter to get our tickets. The attendant said they couldn't assign a seat and that they would seat us on the plane.
When we arrived at the gate, we decided to ask again without waiting, and if we hadn't asked, we wouldn't have known. The attendant informed us that they had oversold tickets and that if there were seats available on the plane, they would let us board. We left early in the morning because it was an early flight, and today the weather was extremely rainy, making the road very risky, so we came slowly. We booked our hotel and rented a car, all arrangements were made according to this flight.
Now, we are waiting without knowing whether we can board the plane or not, and we don't know how long we will wait. I feel misled; if we had been given this information, we could have decided whether to buy the ticket accordingly. Learning about this situation at the last minute through our own efforts is causing serious inconvenience. I can't understand how I can't board the flight I paid for. They put us on standby. If they were going to put us on standby, they should have done so until it was confirmed.
