Febi Oil Pump Failure Causes Turbo Damage on VW Touareg Within 3,000 KM

On May 22, 2026, I purchased a Febi brand oil pump for my 2006 Volkswagen Touareg with a 2.5 BAC engine. I obtained the part from a spare parts retailer with an invoice, and had the labor done by a mechanic at an auto repair shop. Before even 2.5 months and approximately 3,000 km had passed, the vehicle experienced an oil pump failure again.

As a result of this failure, the turbocharger broke down first; we had the turbo repaired and reinstalled. Subsequently, the vehicle began displaying a low oil pressure warning. I believe the problem I experienced stems from the newly installed Febi oil pump. This caused both financial damage to my vehicle and forced me to face the same issue again within a short period.

I submitted an application to the Consumer Arbitration Committee. Nevertheless, because the dealer where I bought the part stated that even a product replacement would require a 2 to 3 month wait, I had no choice but to purchase and install an original oil pump immediately without waiting, covering all costs out of my own pocket.

I demand that Febi cover the expenses and damage resulting from the oil pump that I believe to be defective, inspect this product, and resolve my grievance.
