Issue with Boarding Pass Despite Check-in for Turkish Airlines Flight
On July 12, 2023, we, the Şahiner family, purchased three tickets for the Izmir - Ankara TK7015 flight. My name is O**, my spouse is O**, and our child is A** M**. Initially, we encountered an issue: I successfully checked in online for O** S*** and A** M** S*** early in the morning. However, the system did not allow us to complete the check-in for O*** S**. Despite multiple attempts, the system kept rejecting it. Subsequently, my spouse called THY and managed to complete the check-in over the phone. (Attached is the email from [email protected] confirming the check-in and seat number 19/B.)
We arrived at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport at 19:05. Somehow, seat number 19/B for O*** S** did not appear in THY's system, even though it was confirmed over the phone. Believing we had completed the check-in, we approached the counter to get our boarding passes. While boarding passes were issued for O** S*** and A** M** S***, O*** S** was denied a boarding pass because the system showed no check-in and it was less than 45 minutes before departure. As a result, O*** S** could not board the flight and had to purchase a new ticket for the 10:00 flight to Ankara.
* We request compensation for the financial and emotional distress we experienced. If not resolved, we will take this matter to the Consumer Court.
We expect an urgent response regarding this issue. We face difficulties every time we try to book tickets as a family on the THY website. Despite having different ID numbers and genders, the system does not allow us to book two tickets under the same name O** S**. We are forced to buy one ticket from THY and another from different online agencies. Additionally, the system sometimes incorrectly categorizes O*** S** as a student, causing further complications during the booking process.
