Europcar False Damage Claim - €500 Charge After Car Return
I rented a Nissan Juke from Europcar Salzburg Airport rental office on 15.11.2025 and returned the vehicle to Vienna main train station on 17.11.2025. There were no personnel present when I returned the vehicle so no one checked the condition of the vehicle during my return. Next morning, an Europcar personnel prepared a statement of return form stating that I caused 'damage' to the vehicle. The claimed 'damages' are tiny centimetric scratches to the right front tire rim and right fender 'deformation'. First of all, I don't accept that these supposed 'damages' happened during my rental. Secondly, Europcar is putting a €500 charge on my credit card without notifying me at all. Even if both tire rims and the entire fender were replaced, it is not possible that it would cost anywhere near €500. I have rented from Europcar all over Europe in the past 15 years, but I will never ever rent from Europcar again and I hope that this message reaches everyone thinking about renting from Europcar.
