I Face a False €1,100 Damage Claim from Europcar Berlin — No Scratch Noted at Return

On August 16, 2025, I rented a Volkswagen T-Cross from Europcar Berlin Airport and returned it without any issues or visible damage. At drop-off, no inspection or damage check was performed — the car was accepted immediately. However, shortly afterward, I received an email claiming there was a 5 cm scratch on the rear bumper and demanding €1,100 in repair costs.
No such scratch was ever mentioned during the return process, and it was not recorded in the handover report. My rental agreement (No: 9603741662) included a low-damage insurance package, yet Europcar still insisted on charging me for this alleged damage. I have sent multiple emails disputing the charge, but all have been ignored by customer service. The company is now threatening legal action unless I pay the full amount.
I request that this unjust €1,100 damage claim be canceled immediately and that my case be properly reviewed. The company’s failure to inspect the vehicle upon return and its complete disregard for customer communication are unacceptable. This incident has caused serious stress and frustration, and I expect Europcar to resolve this issue and issue a formal apology.
