Carter's No Exchange Policy and Poor Customer Service

I bought a Pamina category special occasion dress for my baby from the Carter's store, which was labeled as the "last one available." Since my baby wasn't with me at the time of purchase, I expressed my concerns about the possibility of the dress not fitting and mentioned that we could do an exchange if needed. The staff member responded positively to my concerns.
However, when I later returned to exchange the dress, I was informed that exchanges or returns were not possible for this brand and that they absolutely could not take the dress back. They also stated that the absence of the hairband's paper made the return ineligible. When I asked, "Am I really so unaware to buy the last product despite the possibility that it might not fit?" I received no response.
The attitude of the person introduced as the store manager was extremely poor, and the staff member assisting me remained indifferent throughout the conversation, refusing to acknowledge any mistakes.
As a result, I am left with a special occasion dress that my baby has never worn. I am posting this complaint here because I have been a long-time customer of Carter's and have never felt the need to return any product I purchased until now.
This experience has been very disappointing, and I hope Carter's will take my feedback seriously and improve their customer service policies. Thank you!
