I Was Charged by Booking.com for a Dirty Hotel Room in Thessaloniki I Couldn't Stay In

On June 5, just before our trip to Thessaloniki, Greece, we made a same-day hotel reservation through Booking.com. We arrived at the property around 8:00 PM, only to walk into a room that was clearly not cleaned—the bed sheets were dirty and the towels had been used. It was obvious the room hadn’t been prepared for a new guest.

We immediately tried to contact the property owner by phone and message, but received no response at all. With no one to assist us and the room in unacceptable condition, we had no choice but to leave the hotel urgently.

We also tried to contact Booking.com’s customer service, but no one responded. Although we canceled the reservation, only the tax portion was refunded. I ended up paying for a filthy room that we never used, simply because we couldn’t reach anyone to report it in time.

I demand a full refund for this booking. It is completely unfair to charge a customer for a stay in a room that was unhygienic and uninhabitable. Booking.com needs to take responsibility and ensure guests aren’t penalized for situations caused by the hotel’s negligence.
