Booking.com Ruined My Early Reservation Advantage

I'm so frustrated right now. Back in December, I made a reservation to stay in Rome and was looking forward to my trip. However, Booking.com canceled the reservation abruptly in February without letting me know beforehand. This could have been easily avoided if they had just let me know sooner - but alas, I had to start looking for alternatives again and of course, the prices were much higher than before! It's almost like they robbed me of my early reservation advantage by canceling it without notice. All I want is for Booking.com to acknowledge their mistake and give me at least some kind of discount as compensation for their negligence since this has put us out of pocket by about %50 more than our original booking cost.
