While traveling abroad, I booked a rental car through Booking.com with reference number 768138361. Unfortunately, I could not pick up the car because I did not have my driver’s license with me—my wallet had been stolen the day before.
The rental company’s representative assured me that my booking would be canceled and that I would receive a full refund. However, when the refund did not arrive, I contacted Booking.com customer service. At first, they refused to process the refund, claiming that I had not canceled in time. When I insisted, they suddenly imposed a cancellation fee equal to the rental cost and told me I would receive ₺0 back—as if it was a joke!
So, Booking.com took my refund from the rental company but never returned it to me! If you don’t want to go through the same frustration, I strongly recommend booking directly through the car rental company’s website instead of using Booking.com.
