Booking.com Charged Full Rate for Wrong Room Type at Sharm El Sheikh Resort
Between November 14–18, 2025, my family and I booked a stay at Dreams Beach Resort Sharm El Sheikh through Booking.com: two rooms for 2 people each (4 people total), at 15,000 TL per room (a total of 30,000 TL) paid by credit card. When we arrived, we were told that one room was only for 2 people and the other was only for 1 person—which violated what we booked—and the hotel demanded an extra $140 USD for the second child. To avoid ruining our holiday we paid in cash because the card POS wasn’t working, by signing a form.
When we tried to reach Booking.com, we were informed that only email replies were possible (expected within 24 hours). For phone support they required a UK number, but my local SIM didn’t allow calling it. No other contact channel was provided. Customer service told us they couldn’t help due to hotel procedure. At the hotel we discovered that the 1-person room cost $110 USD, while the 2-person room cost $150 USD. Booking.com effectively sold us a 1-person room at the 2-person rate, which I believe is unlawful.
I now request that the difference between the 2-person room and the 1-person room be refunded to me. I did not expect this from a large platform like Booking.com and believe unfair gains were made.
