We booked two rooms for 4 people in Sharm El Sheikh through Booking.com. However, there was an error in this reservation. For my booking from 10.12.2023 to 13.12.2023, 5,768 TL and 209.76 USD were supposed to be charged to my credit card, but 6,062 TL was debited (equivalent to 220.43 USD). The USD exchange rate at the time of booking on 03.10.2023 was 27.5013 TL, corresponding to the 5,768 TL or 209.76 USD stated in the hotel's reservation confirmation.
However, Booking used an exchange rate of 28.90 TL for USD. Such an exchange rate does not exist. The dollar does not have such value in Turkey. I sent an email requesting a refund for this payment, as Booking apparently used a fictitious dollar exchange rate. I provided all necessary information such as booking confirmation, credit card statement, and the correct dollar exchange rate.
They informed me that the hotel did not receive the payment, and my request was rejected. I pointed out that the payment was made not by the hotel but by Booking.com in Amsterdam. However, I received no response. I sent this information three times again, but there was no reaction, and they do not care.
I demand an immediate correction of this error. It is unacceptable for a company like Booking.com to make such mistakes, mislead people, and make overcharges. If this error is not rectified or a reasonable explanation is not provided, I will never book a trip through Booking.com again.
