Booking.com Autounion Rhodes Car Rental Location Did Not Exist – Full Refund Request
I made a car rental reservation with Autounion in Rhodes, Greece through Booking.com, under the name Baris D***, reservation number 730501849. The total amount of 296,58 euros was charged in advance. When we arrived at the confirmed Autounion pick‑up location in Rhodes, there was no Autounion office at all. The place was completely empty in terms of that company. Only a different company renting motorcycles, called Elephant, was there, and they told us they repeatedly receive complaints from other people about the same issue, saying that there is no company named Autounion at that location. We called Autounion twice to try to resolve the situation, but the staff were rude, raised their voices and were generally aggressive. We even asked a local Greek person to speak with them on our behalf, but they gave the same aggressive response and did not offer any solution. As a result, we were unable to pick up the booked car and had to rent another car elsewhere, losing half a day of our holiday. After this, Booking.com customer service sent an email stating that they were doing us a favor by offering a partial refund and presented the situation as if we had canceled our own booking, although we could not use the service because the partner was simply not present at the confirmed location. I request a full refund of the 296,58 euros I paid for this reservation and a correction of my case so it is not recorded as a customer‑initiated cancellation. I also expect Booking.com to take responsibility for listing and continuing to work with a partner that does not even exist at the confirmed location, and to review this cooperation so that other customers do not face the same problem.
This is Booking.com's response regarding a non-existent company and a rental car that was never delivered. Booking.com is taking advantage of their customers' suffering.
