WhatsApp is thought to be a safe messaging app, especially when compared to other similar apps. Users should be aware of the privacy features' limits, though, and take steps to protect their privacy, like turning on two-factor authentication and being careful in group chats.

This adds an extra layer of privacy.

It's important to know what the limits are. End-to-end encryption only works for one-on-one chats, not group chats where all messages can be seen by administrators.
