Unwanted Message from Nigerian Number on WhatsApp, Privacy Concerns Raised
On January 11, 2025, I received a message on WhatsApp from a number with the country code +234, which I discovered belongs to Nigeria. The message simply said "hello." I have no personal or business connections with this country, and receiving such messages is highly unsettling.
I immediately blocked the number and the message, but I am deeply concerned about the potential misuse of my personal information. I am worried about my account details being compromised, my phone number being used without consent, or any unauthorized access to my private messages, photos, or data. If any fraudulent activities occur, such as a company being registered in my name, purchases made, or debts incurred, I will not take any responsibility.
I hold WhatsApp accountable for ensuring the security of my information. This incident has made me question the platform’s ability to safeguard its users. I urge WhatsApp to address this issue immediately and take stricter measures to prevent such breaches of privacy.
