I traveled to Trabzon on Tuesday with Turkish Airlines Anadolu Jet flight TK7422 at 09:25 from Sabiha Gökçen Airport.
When I checked in on January 8th, I was automatically assigned seat 28-F. Due to my larger build, I opted for an extra service to choose my seat and was assigned seat 6-D for a fee of ₺59, which was charged to my credit card. However, my seat remained 28-F, making the transaction invalid, but my money was taken.
I called customer service, and they told me that my desired seat was not assigned and no money was charged. They said they couldn't intervene from their end and that I would receive a refund. Please review the phone recordings!
The next day, on the day of the flight, when I arrived at the airport, a staff member at the check-in entrance offered to arrange my seat without going to the counters. She did not mention any additional charges and assigned me seat 9-D. This was not an online transaction; such arrangements are made at the airport and are not considered extra services.
I complained to Turkish Airlines, and they responded that although my seat was not assigned online, an equivalent seat was provided in the end. They suggested that the outcome was satisfactory. I do not understand this reasoning.
I wanted to reserve my seat a day in advance due to my larger build to ensure a comfortable journey. The fact that my seat was changed just before boarding at Sabiha Gökçen Airport and that this is considered an extra service is baffling. Please explain what your service standards are so that we can understand.
I did not want to file this complaint over the money, but the response and service approach were very disappointing, which is why I am writing this.
