Turkish Airlines Miles & Smiles Elite Plus Membership Upgrade Issues
I have an Elite Plus membership in the THY Miles & Smiles program. When I called to find out what is needed to use the gift upgrade for family members, I was informed that I needed to create a family membership and then call customer service again after purchasing the ticket to complete the process. Since no transactions could be done over the phone, I first created a record in the system. A few days later, I received confirmation that the family membership was created. After finalizing the travel date, I called customer service again and was told that family members do not have the right to use miles, and that I needed to create another request online. I opened another ticket and waited for the process to be completed. As the matter became urgent, I had to follow up several times by phone. This morning, when I called, I was informed that there was a problem with the ticket and that our return flight appeared to be on hold. Since there were no seats available in the same class on the return flight, I was told there would be a difference of ₺22,000. Since no transactions could be done over the phone, I created another online record. The flight is today. There is no return ticket? We have given up on the upgrade and are now wondering if the error, which was not caused by us, will be corrected without paying a price difference. Not to mention the 3 hours of phone and online time wasted. I am waiting to see how THY will compensate for this situation.
