I purchased a connecting flight ticket from Turkish Airlines from Erzurum to Istanbul. Since this morning, I have faced numerous issues. Normally, my journey was supposed to be at 10:25 AM from Erzurum to Ankara, followed by a 1:50 PM flight from Ankara to Istanbul.
We were supposed to depart at 10:25 AM on January 18, 2024, but we took off at 2:30 PM. The delay was not announced at once but in small increments, and finally, they started boarding at 2:20 PM. During this period, they sent messages claiming they would compensate for our inconvenience and provide meals. After waiting in long lines, we managed to get some food. By food, I mean four pieces of pre-packaged market meatballs, two tiny slices of bread, and a small portion of salad.
They blamed the weather conditions, and we tried to be understanding. However, since I am still suffering, I decided to write here. Knowing that I would miss my 1:50 PM flight from Ankara, I tried to book the nearest flight while still in Erzurum. They told me the closest flight was on January 19, 2024, at 12:25 AM. I thought it was a joke, but it was real. I had no choice but to book it. They assured me that I had a hotel right and that I could go straight to the hotel to rest upon arrival. I requested a reservation in Erzurum and also called customer service. After boarding the plane and arriving in Ankara, I was told no arrangements had been made in my name. They told me to wait half an hour for a shuttle. We waited for an hour and a half. Then the shuttle took us to a hotel after an hour-long drive. The hotel, which was supposed to be near the airport, was inexplicably far away. Meanwhile, all the passengers I saw were complaining about the situation. We have just arrived at the hotel; let's see what we will face here. I paid ₺4,160 for this flight. I feel humiliated with my own money. Hopefully, this complaint will reach the authorities.
