Turkish Airlines Flight Change Request Due to Visa Delay
Details regarding the flight ticket I purchased from Turkish Airlines are as follows: My flight from Istanbul (IST) to Los Angeles (LAX) with reservation code SLWTR2 was scheduled to depart on February 23, 2024, and my return flight from Los Angeles (LAX) to Istanbul (IST) with the same reservation code was planned for March 2, 2024. However, due to the visa application process taking longer than expected, I informed Turkish Airlines customer service that I would not be able to take the flight. I explained that my request to change the flight date was not arbitrary but due to necessity. Turkish Airlines representatives responded with an automated message stating that ticketing rules would apply and that my ticket could not be changed.
Subsequently, I requested to change my existing Business Class ticket to Economy Class without any additional payment. However, despite the new ticket price for the round trip being ₺38,000, I was asked to pay ₺70,000 for the switch to Economy Class. Despite explaining the difficulties I faced during the visa process, Turkish Airlines did not provide any assistance and left me significantly inconvenienced.
