High Charges for Turkish Airlines Ticket Upgrade to Business Class
On January 8, 2024, I approached the Turkish Airlines counter at Istanbul Airport to upgrade my economy class ticket for flight TK2474 to Adana, scheduled at 02:10, to business class. They informed me that I could upgrade my ticket by paying an additional ₺2,900. However, the price of a business class ticket was already ₺3,690.80, and I had paid approximately ₺1,500 for the economy class ticket. Therefore, they effectively charged me an extra ₺800-900 for a ticket worth ₺3,690.80. In this situation, I was asked to pay an additional ₺2,900 on top of the ₺1,500 I had already paid, which caused me significant inconvenience. As I did not purchase the ticket myself and did not check it until the flight, I was unaware of this issue. I experienced hardship, and no one from the Turkish Airlines ticket team made any effort to assist me. If I had the option to use alternatives like Emirates or British Airways within Turkey, I would definitely not have chosen Turkish Airlines. Following this experience, I would like to cancel my previously purchased round-trip tickets to Edinburgh for January 18 and February 2. Unfortunately, I had such an experience, and since this is not the first time, I will try to avoid using Turkish Airlines as much as possible.
My flight has been delayed from 02:10 to 03:30 and no one has said anything.
