Turkish Airlines Didn't Refund Despite Having Cancellation Insurance
On 23.02.2024, I purchased a ticket for flight TK2660 from Istanbul to VAS with reservation code S3R8H4 for the date 26.02.2024 from the THY website. While purchasing, I also got flight cancellation insurance with reference number KMFTP-U2KWE-INS from the THY website. On 25.02.2024, I wanted to cancel my ticket more than 24 hours before the flight. During my call with customer service, they initially told me 'Your ticket is not insured'.
I then sent the insurance policy through feedback (TK10411780). Later, they told me to 'contact the insurance company'. The insurance company is called XCover; it has no name or contactable phone number. In short, the cancellation insurance offered during ticket purchase is a major deception. I am filing a complaint. I will pursue my rights first with the Consumer Arbitration Committee and then in the relevant courts.
