I purchased my travel ticket directly from Turkish Airlines (THY). It was a journey from Istanbul to Toronto with three connections: the first from Istanbul to Geneva, the second from Zurich to Montreal, and the final part from Montreal to Toronto.
Unfortunately, upon my arrival in Geneva, I was informed by Swiss authorities that a visa was required for the internal transfer to Zurich. This requirement was not communicated to me during the reservation process or in any correspondence from THY. As a result, I was unable to board my connecting flight and was subsequently sent back to Turkey. Due to this unexpected situation, I was unable to use my flight tickets from Zurich to Montreal and from Montreal to Toronto. To reach my destination, I had to purchase a separate ticket from Istanbul to Toronto, which included a transfer via Frankfurt.
Considering that the unused portion of my journey (from Zurich to Montreal and from Montreal to Toronto) was a direct result of the unexpected visa requirement, I am requesting a refund for this part of the trip. I learned from a phone conversation with a customer service representative that such situations are eligible for review, especially when the requirements were not communicated to passengers.
