Turkish Airlines Delayed My Flight and Provided Lack of Accommodation and Meal Support
On November 1, 2023, I purchased a ticket for the Erzincan-Istanbul-Izmir route at a higher price, approximately ₺4000, because I am a soldier and bought it 5-6 days later than other buyers. During the Erzincan-Istanbul flight, we were kept waiting inside the plane due to a system issue, and the flight took off with a 10-15 minute delay. Upon arriving in Istanbul, we learned that all flights between 9 and 11 hours were canceled. We never received information about the flight cancellations from THY staff; we learned this from our families over the phone. After disembarking from the plane, we started waiting for our luggage and were informed that there was a system issue and the luggage would arrive in 15-20 minutes. However, despite our wait, the luggage did not arrive. The status of the flights was uncertain, some staff said our luggage was lost, and no one knew the time of the next flight. When we requested accommodation and meals, we were told that there was no food left and the hotels were full. Despite the existing system issues, our family managed to reschedule our flight to 07:00 on November 2, 2023. We had to spend time at the airport until the early hours of the morning, sitting on benches and using our own resources. We received no help from THY regarding meals and accommodation, and they did not seem to have any intention of providing it. I request that this situation be corrected and compensated. I cannot believe that this is the service standard expected from such a reputable company, and I eagerly await the necessary corrections.
