Turkish Airlines Flight TK 1636 Cancellation and Poor Communication
On December 1, 2023, I arrived at the airport 4 hours early, adhering to all flight rules, to board Turkish Airlines flight TK 1636 from Munich to Istanbul. The flight, which was supposed to depart at 19:10, was initially delayed in 30-minute intervals and eventually canceled. During this time, no explanations were provided at the gate, leaving everyone clueless about the next steps. A Turkish police officer directed us to retrieve our luggage and said an explanation would be given at the baggage claim area. We waited until 23:59 to get our luggage, only to be told that we couldn't retrieve it and would have to wait until the next day. Hundreds of people were stranded at the airport. Turkish Airlines left us hungry, thirsty, and uninformed. We had to sit on the floor overnight, and no hotel arrangements were made. There wasn't a single staff member available at the airport. We are eagerly awaiting to see how Turkish Airlines will compensate for the hardship we endured.
