Turkish Airlines Damaged My Baby Stroller and Didn't Pay Compensation!
On April 18, 2023, I traveled from New York's John F. Kennedy Airport to Istanbul Airport. When I got off the plane, I received my baby stroller. They brought my stroller last, after everyone else had taken theirs. I was carrying my child, bags, and a backpack. After a long journey, I was very tired. The stroller arrived with a broken wheel and a detached back, in a completely unusable state. The flight attendants assured me that it would be resolved and directed me to the baggage damage section. However, no one was waiting for me there, and I realized later that they had misled me to move me away from the plane. The treatment I received worsened as I moved further from the plane. At the baggage damage section, an employee confirmed that the stroller was unusable and gave me a report. I followed all the steps they advised, opened a file, uploaded photos, and the report. Despite my efforts, they engaged in lengthy negotiations with me for nine months. Initially, they offered $130, but I provided the actual price of the stroller. After multiple calls and messages, we finally agreed on a compensation amount. However, they insisted that the payment could only be made to a bank account in my name in the USA. I explained that due to my status, the transfer couldn't be accepted in my account, but they persisted. Eventually, they agreed to send a check to my address, but it never arrived. After months of waiting and more communication, they suggested restarting the process. I proposed sending the check to Turkish Airlines' sales office at JFK or Newark, but they didn't accept. Despite my suggestions, they kept creating obstacles. After nine months of trying to resolve this, a sales representative advised me to seek legal action. I'm extremely frustrated with this situation and feel that my efforts have been ignored. I don't forgive this treatment, and I've expressed this multiple times.
