About 10 months ago, I purchased an open ticket for ₺1650 for the Izmir-Istanbul route and wanted to use it for a flight on 28.06.2024. I called the customer service center to set the date. After confirming the date, the representative informed me that I would need to pay an additional ₺1750. When I asked for the regular ticket price, I was told it was around ₺2700. However, when I simultaneously checked the Turkish Airlines website, the ticket price was ₺1800. When I relayed this information to the representative, I was told, 'I am obligated to provide you with the price shown here. You can either file a complaint or purchase a new ticket.' To avoid losing my open ticket, I bought a new ticket for ₺2000 and reported the issue to Turkish Airlines customer service, hoping they would resolve it. The initial response I received stated that prices could fluctuate in real-time. When I continued my complaint, emphasizing that I saw different prices at the same time as the call, the second response indicated that there could be price differences between the call center and the website. What I don't understand is whether these price differences occur when the PNR information of the open ticket is entered into the system. In summary, is this how Turkish Airlines, one of Turkey's leading companies, handles open tickets? To use my ₺1650 ticket, I was told I needed to pay an additional ₺1750 for an ₺1800 ticket.
