My encounter on SunExpress aircraft XQ 745 (Amsterdam-Konya) on February 1 really irritates me. Knowing that our bags weighed 13 kg over the limit, I purchased for an additional 15 kg of luggage allowance (₺2793) when I checked online for seats 32A-B.
We checked in our 30 kilogram, 23 kg, and 20 kg checked baggage on the day of the flight then carried on with our carry-on bags (backpacks) and tax-free purchases. We passed security and arrived at Gate G2 to board, but an agent drew us away and said us our carry-on luggage were too heavy and we would not be let to board.
We were threatened that we would be refused boarding unless we paid once again even though we had previously paid for additional baggage. One of the employees spoke Turkish, but they refused to assist us and instead wanted extra €160 for our sixteen kg carry-on (9+7 kg). They claimed even that they wouldn't give us change even if we paid €200!
Left waiting till all other passengers boarded, we were under great stress and anxiety and had to pay in cash in order to prevent missing our flight. Not one receipt or invoice was given for the payment. This is outright dishonesty!
SunRex, I demand a complete refund for the unwarranted charge and an instant look at where this money disappeared to! This encounter destroyed what ought to have been a great trip. Correct this right away.
