I Report SunExpress Pet Information Failure, Denied Flight To Izmir
Today, June 26, 2025, my son, Kc*, with booking number F4CN28, was denied boarding for his Malpensa to Izmir flight because his pet cat was not allowed on the plane. When I purchased the ticket two months ago, SunExpress provided absolutely no information regarding requirements for traveling with a pet. Although all the necessary animal documents were complete, we were unexpectedly informed at the airport that an additional document was required, one that needed to be obtained within 48 hours before the flight. Due to this severe lack of prior notification, we were missing this critical document, and consequently, my son was unable to use his flight.
This incident has caused immense financial burden and emotional distress for my son and our family. We trusted SunExpress as a reputable airline, expecting them to provide all essential travel information clearly, especially concerning pet travel. Instead, we were left stranded and forced to purchase new tickets, costing us an additional ₺18,000. This negligence is unacceptable. I expect SunExpress to take full responsibility for this oversight and compensate us for the additional ticket cost and the distress caused.
The journey that Sunexpress deems suitable for our pets, the ticket price is as much as a regular passenger's ticket, but the right to travel is like this, this treatment is unacceptable. Such a big company, it was not appropriate, it was not right. I expect an explanation from them, urgently.
