Booking.com Withholds Promised $844 Refund After Booking Cancellation

26

I paid a total of $896 for a booking through Booking.com on July 28, 2026. Immediately afterward, I canceled the reservation under the "free cancellation" option, and an email was sent confirming that $844 would be refunded, while $52 would remain as fees and charges. The same email stated that my refund would be automatically processed within 7 to 12 business days.

However, despite the specified period having passed, no refund has posted to my card. Later, I received another email mentioning a refund of only $52, acting as if the remaining $844 did not exist at all. I made the payment with my Ziraat Bank credit card, and to date, no refund has appeared on my statement.

Although I reported this discrepancy to Booking.com via email, the contradiction was never addressed, nor was any clear explanation provided. I demand a full refund of the promised $844 credited to my card in accordance with their initial email commitment, along with a clear, written notification detailing when and for what amount the transaction will be completed.

On July 28, 2026, I made a reservation for €822 through Booking.com and cancelled it using the free cancellation option. The first email said that €774 would be refunded and €48 would be deducted, and that the refund would be processed within 7‑12 business days. However, after that period passed, no refund appeared on my card; I only received an email about the €48 deduction and the €774 is still pending. Despite contacting them by email, I have not received any response or explanation.
